So you have been asked to be best man, you have gone through the usual stages as it sinks in. Firstly your friend/brother/cousin has finally acknowledged you are indeed the “Best Man”, a fact you have believed all along, what’s more you’re finally going to get a free meal out of him.

Then the touching sentiment has dawned, that of all the people he knows he has chosen you to be by his side on the most important day of his life.

And finally you realise the massive task you now face, organising the stag do (can anyone actually co-ordinate his rabble of friends and family for a decent knees up?), taking care of the main man and seeing him through his big day and then there is the sphincter tightening realisation that you are going to have to write and deliver the killer Best Man’s speech.

But where do you begin? It is possibly one of the most daunting roles a man will face.

Most modern couples plan their weddings with near military precision (although this is mostly down to the sensible bride rather than the hapless groom) however you might be called upon to help out. Make sure you communicate regularly with the happy couple in the build up to their big day offering your services where required. They have picked you for this huge honour for a reason so make sure you help out wherever you can.

Communication is king. Stay in regular contact with the happy couple, find out what roles they would like you to fulfil on the day and how they would like your help during the planning. The groom will probably have a few ideas of his own when it comes to the stag do, make sure you respect his wishes at all times (well… most of them). A day crawling from one bar to another en route to a lap dancing club might be your idea of fun but is it his? And will this land him in any trouble with the soon to be Mrs?

Also you might find the groom is starting to break under the strain of having to choose the best one out of 200 dresses that all look the same to him and other assorted tasks he didn’t see coming. The beautiful girl he fell in love with has suddenly turned into Bridezilla, and at times it will feel to him that no matter what he says or does, any word of him will bring forth accusations of not caring or pulling his weight and a few lonely nights on the sofa. Offering to get him out on “wedding fact finding missions” to the local bar might be an invaluable help.

The greatest advice we can offer to any Best Man is to get organised early. When facing such a massive task many guys revert to type and work under the delusion that “if I just don’t worry about it it’ll sort itself out and it’ll all be ok in the end” or are filled with such dread of everything that faces them that they simply bury their head in the sand and keep putting everything off until “tomorrow”. Bad idea. The more you put things off until the last minute the more of a panic you’ll find those last few weeks before the wedding. And come the big day the bride and groom will be panicking enough already without finding out that the man they thought they could rely upon above all others has spent the last few weeks trying to beat his highest score on “Call of Duty” rather than taking care of the tasks he had promised faithfully to accomplish.

Now it is fair to say that most women are far more organised than us guys. One thing that certainly sets us apart is the matter of writing lists. Most guys at some time or other have noted how the woman in their life has an inbuilt propensity for writing lists for pretty much everything that happens or needs to happen in her life. While we guys find this notion completely alien. Lists are for girls right? Or are they? In fact men are actually the king of lists, it is indeed where we thrive. Not convinced? Name your top 5 films of all time? Greatest All Star NBA line up of all time? Top 10 albums of the 20th century? Lists are the corner stone of the most hotly debated guy talk in bars and offices the length and breadth of the country. So start with a list of tasks the future Mr and Mrs wedded bliss have asked you to take care of before the wedding. A list of the names and numbers/email address of the stag attendees, a list of everything you’ll need to attend to on the big day.

It’s really not as scary as you think. Communicate. Get organised. Write those lists. Soon you’ll find you’re halfway there and that on the day you will indeed be the BEST MAN. As for that speech, well we’ve got a few tips for you there as well. Come check us out at www.simplythebestman.com and we’ll guide you through every part of the perfect speech.

As for those lists… we thought we’d share of few of our own. Although obviously we don’t like to think of them as “lists”. These are just a sample of our “Top 10’s”. We don’t write lists…. Lists are for girls!

The world’s your lobster. See the big picture and go find yourselves a new playground to have fun in.
Tents, tequila and tantrums. Can any bachelor party survive the riggers of a camping trip and live to tell the tale?
6. Activities Weekend
ATV riding, go cart racing, skeet shooting, kayaking. Why not visit one of many activities centres and do the whole lot?
7. Summer Camp
Remember getting packed off to summer camp when you were at school and hoping after the archery, rock climbing and white water rafting you can get drunk and talk one of the girls into letting you put your hand up her sweater? Well there are now many summer camps that cater for bachelor parties at weekends.
8. Kidnap
Try any of the above just don’t tell the groom. Simply tell him what to pack, turn up on the day and bundle him in the back of a waiting car. Be sure to make it authentic and hand the bride a ransom note telling her where to pick him up and what the price of his safe return will be.

In the multi-million dollar wedding industry it is becoming increasingly apparent that a number of the self professed top resource websites want a bigger slice of the pie and now have listings on their websites for ‘Preferred Vendors’ which you may be fooled into thinking are the vendors picked by the websites owner as ‘hand picked’ for giving ‘excellent customer service’.

However, don’t be fooled into believing that all vendors with a listing under these sections are actually ‘hand picked’ or give ‘excellent service’. The ‘Preferred Vendors’, in most cases, are actually paying for their listings and the website owners are just raking in the advertising fees. At one time they were called ‘Sponsored Listings’ until someone realized that a lot of surfers skipped over the sponsored listings and went to the listings below, fearing that the companies sponsoring these links would be expensive to use as they paid for the listing.

This practice really saddens me because no longer is being on a preferred vendor list a great honor that points to the hard work the vendor has done to build that reputation, but just another form of paid advertising. The thing that really gets under my skin though, is the injustice done to the brides and in my book, a preferred vendor should be a vendor who has been investigated and used by a company with the quality of their services approved. When a bridal couple need wedding services, they should turn to your preferred vendors first, which means that being a preferred vendor can put a business in a powerful position.

Companies taking money for referring vendors to clients show a downright disregard for a client/customer service and companies using these tactics should be ‘named and shamed.’

Personally, the preferred vendors on my website are there because I have witnessed their work in action and can vouch for the quality and professionalism of their services. There is no kickback1 for me listing these people. I refer them because I recommend them highly!

There are no doubt, those who will disagree with my ramblings and say that it’s just business ( probably those who charge for preferred vendor status ) but I believe that telling the truth to my clients is my number one priority, as the truth always comes out in the end.

So, Brides & Bridegrooms remember to ask venues, planners and coordinators if their list of preferred vendors includes any paid entries or are they really hand picked for their services?

1A kickback is the practice of a vendor paying to be on a preferred list, or the recommending vendor getting a cut of the profits of a referral. I believe in deriving all my revenue from the hard work of promoting and providing excellent services and not through being someone else’s ‘advertiser’.

They say money can’t buy love – and it also doesn’t necessarily have to buy the wedding of your dreams. On the contrary, you can get the wedding of your dreams even when you’re on a budget! From the time they are born, little girls dream of their wedding day. They envision sparkling lights, a princess gown, a handsome groom and a giant party thrown in their honour. When the big day finally approaches, however, brides begin to realize that the wedding of their dreams might be out of reach financially – or so they think!
The truth is you don’t need tons of money to have the wedding of your dreams. A wedding is the first amazing adventure that you’ll take as a couple, and planning it will be wonderful – with or without a huge budget.
First and foremost, don’t hire a wedding planner. Sure, it will be nice to have someone coordinate your big day, but think about it – it’s your big day, not someone else’s! Why wouldn’t you want to have your hands in the dirt when it comes to planning your wedding?
Save yourself some money and do the planning yourself. Set a schedule of what you need to accomplish month by month and plan out how much each month will cost so that you don’t find yourself with tons of bills to pay, come wedding day. Consider doing just about everything yourself – and of course, with the help of your loving friends and family.
Consider having your wedding in your own backyard, or perhaps, in a park or on the beach. You can have it at your parent’s home, or even at your best friend’s apartment. Who says you need to rent somewhere to boogie down with your loved ones after the ceremony? Renting a place is an unnecessary expense, especially when you’re on a budget. Remember that your wedding is about the person you’re marrying, not about where you have it.
You can also save money when it comes to your wedding gown – consider going vintage, or even wearing and repurposing your mother’s old gown. Designer wedding gowns can cost thousands, and even more inexpensive gowns at bridal retail stores can run you upwards of $500. A vintage dress could cost $20. Online retailers like Ebay and Etsy are great places to find vintage clothing.
Remember, this is your wedding day, and you don’t have to wear a big, frilly gown if you don’t want to. If a simple sheath that you saw at the thrift shop for $10 is calling your name, don’t be afraid to wear that on your big day.
Another way to save money is to do your own invitations. These days, you can create just about anything on your computer. Microsoft Word has a surprising amount of templates, or you can write your invites by hand and then make photocopies. If you’re good with Photoshop, you can craft something stunning.
Consider sending out an email instead of paper invites – you’ll save yourself money on stamps, and you’ll be saving the planet! E-vites are all the rage with parties these days, so why not capitalize on their popularity by applying them to your wedding day? This option is good for both big and small weddings and doesn’t cost you a dime!
Instead of hiring an expensive caterer on your big day, consider coming up with a low-key meal that your friends and family can pull together. Instead of a sit-down dinner, go for a buffet-style meal, where your guests can help themselves. This sort of dining situation will also save you money on waiters – an unnecessary expense, especially if your loved ones can cook!
The same goes for the alcohol – buy it in bulk at a big box retailer and have that bartender friend of yours mix up some drinks. Or, if you dare, go buffet style on that end as well, and let your loved ones mix up some liquid courage for themselves!
Some of the best wedding desserts come from couples that have thought outside of the box. Don’t assume that you need a traditional three-tiered wedding cake that will cost you hundreds of dollars. Maybe you love ice cream – why not set up an ice cream sundae stand for your guests?
If it’s cupcakes you adore, have each guest bring a set, and then choose which one you and your hubby will split. Maybe whoopee pies are your future husband’s favourite food. Why not do a tower of whoopee pies instead of a cake? Almost anything is cheaper than a professionally made cake – and something that’s made with love will undoubtedly taste better than something concocted by a stranger in a bakeshop.
As you can see, there are plenty of ways to get the wedding of your dreams on a shoestring budget.
Money doesn’t buy happiness, nor does it buy the perfect wedding.

Everyone is trying to save money these days, even when it comes to getting married. Being on a budget does not have to mean sacrificing an amazing honeymoon, though. You can still visit some wonderful locations by just knowing the best budget honeymoon spots. Here is a top 10 list of places you can go for your honeymoon even if you are watching your budget.

Number One Honeymoon Spot: Florida You don’t have to leave the country to find a beautiful locale that is the perfect setting for a honeymoon. Florida earns it nickname, The Sunshine State, honestly. Relax in the year round warm temperatures and soak up rays on the great coastal beaches in this inexpensive destination.

Number Two Honeymoon Spot: Mexico A short trip south of the border puts you in an ideal honeymoon spot. Mexico is not too far to travel and has some great resorts at prices that will amaze you. You can take in the beaches and the explore the local attractions for a budget price.

Number Three Honeymoon Spot: Thailand If you want something that is more of an adventure then consider Thailand. Again, you get beautiful beaches, but with an exotic flair. Thailand is very affordable with budget friendly resorts and spectacular deals on airfare.

Number Four Honeymoon Spot: Jamaica Don’t immediately assume this popular destination is too expensive. You really can get a budget honeymoon deal in Jamaica. Explore the Caribbean, go shopping, enjoy golf and hang out on the beach on this budget honeymoon.

Number Five Honeymoon Spot: Dominican Republic The Dominican Republic may not be the first place you think of for an amazing honeymoon, but it offers you everything you could want from a tropical vacation spot at a fraction of the price.

Number Six Honeymoon Spot: Fiji Now heading to Fiji during their prime vacation season will be expensive, but if you have a wedding any time from December to February then you can get some great off season deals. Fiji is still just as beautiful and wonderful during the off season, but at a fraction of the cost.

Number Seven Honeymoon Spots: Stay In Your Own State Sometimes the best getaways are not too far from home. Have you ever explored your own home state? What better way to start a new life than getting to know more about where you live? A honeymoon spent traveling around your home state can be a very affordable option that is still a lot of fun.

Number Eight Honeymoon Spot: Bed and Breakfast Head to a B&B for your honeymoon. You get a cozy atmosphere that gives you an exceptional savings over a hotel. You get a very attentive staff and are often even entertained when you choose a B&B. Just the experience can be enough to really make your honeymoon special.

Number Nine: Take a Honeymoon Cruise Explore many different places for one low price. You would probably be surprised at just how affordable a honeymoon cruise can be. You get your travel, food and sight seeing all in one affordable package.

Number Ten: Have Your Honeymoon Outdoors If you are a nature loving couple then try a camping honeymoon. This is probably the most affordable option on this list. You can camp for a very low cost. All you need is to find a great spot for your camping outing and then enjoy the great outdoors together.

An Exciting Time in the Wedding Process

Planning your honeymoon can be one of the most fun and exciting times of the whole wedding process! Just today I had an appointment and met a wonderful couple who are beginning to look at honeymoon ideas. When I showed them a couple of the places I recommended, they were so excited to look at the photos and imagine the possibilities for their dream honeymoon. However, on the flip side of the process, honeymoon planning can also be very overwhelming. So many choices, so many destinations, resorts, and what about airfare and passports?

Q: Shouldn’t I wait to plan my honeymoon?

Let’s face it, a majority of the time, the honeymoon planning is pushed aside to the arrangements and plans of the actual wedding, but you owe it to yourself to give your honeymoon the appropriate attention it deserves. The wedding is the main event, but also heavily focuses on your friends and family. Your honeymoon is a chance for you and your new spouse to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime getaway all to yourselves. To enjoy being newlyweds, spend quality time together, and enjoy the pampering, luxury and relaxation you deserve, after months of stress and planning. Studies also show that taking a honeymoon is very important to starting your marriage off on the right foot, and setting the tone for your relationship.

Q: How Soon Should I Plan My Honeymoon?

There are two great ways to help make the honeymoon planning process less overwhelming. The first way is to give yourself plenty of time. Start planning your honeymoon about 12 to 9 months prior to your departure date, this will ensure that you have access to the best pricing and availability for most of the resorts you will be considering. As a side note, Sandals resorts allows you to book your room (not airfare) 2 years in advance. This gives you incredible savings, allows you to budget a higher level suite, and pay it off over the course of the 2 years. Also, you will only need a low $400.00 deposit per couple to hold your Sandals honeymoon package.

Q: How Can I Make My Honeymoon Planning Easier?

The other way to make the honeymoon planning process less overwhelming is to use a travel consultant. A travel consultant, such as myself, will help you choose the best possible location and destination for your dream Caribbean honeymoon. A travel consultant will also spend those endless hours online scouring for deals and making sure you have the proper room category, flights, and travel protection for your all-inclusive honeymoon. One thing I do for all my couples is what I call fact finding. I ask each couple a series of questions either by email, phone, or in person, that allow me to find the absolute best fit of destination, resort, length of stay, and airfare that will give each couple their own unique wonderful honeymoon experience!

Q: What Type of Information Should I Share?

Share Your Dreams. In my opinion, there should never be a cookie cutter honeymoon. When talking to your travel consultant, share your vision of the perfect honeymoon. What are some things you like to do as a couple, and individually? The couple I met with yesterday, when I asked “what do you dream of when you think of the perfect honeymoon?” The bride told me that she loves to be pampered, with a fantastic looking room filled with luxurious fixtures and touches. She also told me she would love a great beach to lie on and relax and read. Her fiancée told me he loves to play golf, is interested in historical sites and both would like to get off the resort and do some excursions and activities for a nice change of pace instead of sitting on the resort the whole time. These answers help me build a unique custom honeymoon experience for each couple. There are many great tropical locations and resorts, but I want my couples to be at the right island and resort for them. I can’t speak for every travel consultant, but I know in my case, I don’t charge a fee for this service. I get paid from the resorts for sending couples to them. A travel consultant can save you a ton of time, stress, frustration, and ultimately money by doing much of the hard work for you.

Q: How Many Nights Should My Honeymoon Be?

Considering the amount of stress and hard work that it takes to plan a wedding, I suggest to most couples that they stay at least 7-14 nights for their honeymoon. I realize that there are many things that can affect how many nights you can stay…your work schedule, vacation time, your budget, etc. But if you can afford it, try to give yourself at least a week. The number of nights also can be affected by the destination you pick. If you are having a honeymoon in Hawaii, Fiji, or another destination that has a long flight, you will want stay as many nights as possible. You don’t want to have a Hawaii honeymoon for only five nights. Now if you are having a Jamaican honeymoon, or a honeymoon in the Bahamas or Mexico, the flights are not that bad. You can stay for fewer nights. Even at those destinations, I would strongly suggest that you try to stay for at least 5 nights, with 7 to 10 being the perfect amount. It just goes by so fast – trust me! You will be running on adrenaline that last week of the wedding and when you arrive in paradise, you’ll discover that you are more tired than you thought. You’ll have at least two full days of down time before getting adventurous.

Q: What Kind of Budget Should I Plan For?

This is such a great question! Many couples don’t have any idea how much a honeymoon packages cost. Most couples spend about three to four times more than a typical vacation. This is not just another vacation, this is your honeymoon! A honeymoon should give you the greatest experience you can comfortably afford. This is a trip that will build once-in-a-life-time memories. You don’t want to be stingy with your honeymoon. You will want to have as much quality as you can afford. If you have no idea where to begin on budget, contact me and I’ll help you. The best place to start is with length of stay and what the 5 most important elements of your honeymoon experience are. High level of service and pampering, oceanfront suite with Jacuzzi or private plunge pool, spa treatments, candlelight dinner, tours, nightlife etc… the possibilities are endless and are unique to you as a couple. Don’t know what your most important elements are? Call me and I’ll ask you a series of questions to get to know you and we’ll be on our way!

Q: How Much Does a Typical Honeymoon Cost?

Another great question I am asked all the time. The price ranges are all over the place and time of year greatly affects this. Just like there are Chevy’s and Cadillac, there are low quality, moderate quality, and high end resorts and rooms within a resort. Airfare also greatly affects price, and of course the length of your stay. For example, a seven night honeymoon package at Sandals resorts, including airfare can range from $3,500 to $15,000 dollars. This price includes all of your food and drink at the resort, airfare, and transfers from the airport to the resort and back again, travel protection, and your honeymoon amenities. Prices can be higher or lower depending on the factors I have already mentioned, but this should give you a good range to start from for a great honeymoon experience. As a honeymoon expert, it is my job to find out what you are looking for in your honeymoon experience and get you the most value for your dollar while perfectly matching your desires.

Q: Can’t I Just Plan My Honeymoon Online?

I hear this from a lot of couples. The answer is yes. You can plan your honeymoon online, but what I constantly find is that couples who try to do this on their own, end up extremely frustrated and overwhelmed with the whole process. I get so many calls from couples who are so stressed with the endless searching, reading reviews on trip advisor, visiting websites, looking through brochures, and spending hours doing research. You can’t really tell if a resort has everything you are looking for by seeing pictures and reading reviews. Every couple is different and your honeymoon should be a reflection of you. Couples also miss out on many great incentives and travel options that are given to travel consultants that are not available online. The internet is a great tool for research and I encourage couples to use it as a resource but leave the booking up to a professional…you’ll be glad you did!

Q: Will I Need a Passport?

You will need a passport if you are traveling from the United States into another country. Every Caribbean Honeymoon at a Sandals resort will require a passport for travel. If you are unsure of the passport procedures, you can read about them here. If you travel to the U.S Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, or Hawaii, you will not need a passport.

Something to Think About:

You will want to be realistic with your expectations for your honeymoon during the planning and travel process. Travel is, by its very nature, an adventure. There are times when things don’t always run as smoothly as possible, always try to be flexible and laugh at the silly things that can happen. Of course if something happens that you feel is not right, or not what you expected, that is a different story, and you should call your travel consultant right away if you have any type of serious concerns or problems. That is another reason to use a travel consultant. Once when my husband and I were at the Sandals Royal Bahamian, there was a couple at the help desk, with some sort of complaint. The Sandals representative told them that their travel agent was Funjet Vacations. There really wasn’t a person that they could call and ask for help. They had to call a large company’s call center and hope that they could get the situation resolved. I know all of my couples by name, and stress personal service to all of the other travel consultants that work for Paradise Getaways.

Many couples are considering alternatives to the usual church wedding and for some, this means marrying on a beach. Beach weddings are intimate and highly romantic, but they also offer other wonderful perks which many people are a little surprised to discover.

One of the joys of a beach wedding is that everything gets to be scaled down to a more serene and unique level. With the beautiful scenery as background, you can spend more time working on the vows that you will be saying to each other.

You can also spend more time choosing the wedding outfits, and for the bride that means finding her beach wedding dress! Whether you are marrying on distant shores or having a more casual affair at your local beach, choosing the perfect dress is every bit as important and deserves all the attention and consideration you can give it.

One of the best parts of a beach wedding is that no aspect need be expensive. As a matter of fact, when choosing your dress, the biggest question is probably what type of dress do you want to wear – do you go with a more traditional gown or something less formal?

Regardless of the type of dress you decide on, every bride wants it to be uniquely hers. It’s the little details that will really make you fall in love with your wedding dress. Here are some creative ways you can incorporate to help make your dress your own:

- Tie a wide silk ribbon, chiffon sash or cummerbund around your waist. For a little added punch, use a color other than your dress color. For instance, if your dress is white, how about contrasting the waist band in ivory or champagne – you could even coordinate it with one of your wedding colors. This is a particularly good option for a second wedding when you don’t want to wear a totally white dress.

- Try a dress of a different color other than white – like champagne, blush pink, baby blue, or even something vibrant like red!

- If an entire dress in red is too dramatic for you, but you like the idea, how about an accent of color around the neckline, hem or waist? This is really a great idea to play up the season of your wedding – red for winter holidays, maybe gold for fall, or turquoise for summer.

- A basic dress can be embellished with embroidery, possibly with a little pale color in the design. You could add some pearls, Swarovski crystals, sequins, colored rhinestones, or chiffon fabric flowers into the design.

- If you are adventurous, you could alter the hemline. A high-low design where the dress is knee length in front and floor length in back is a popular style for the flirty look of a tropical wedding dress. Out on the beach you might not want a full length dress, so perhaps you might consider shortening it to tea length for a more casual wedding dress feel.

You can truly be creative with your beach wedding dress and it can still be quite affordable. But, if you love the look of the basic little dress with only a smattering of flowers in your hair, then this should be what you wear.

Remember, your dress should be a reflection of who you are and it should also reflect the environment you are marrying in. A beach wedding embraces a love of nature and this should come through in your wedding dress.

There are no rules for a casual beach wedding dress, so feel free to express yourself and make your dress a special one, just for you.

Choosing a Wedding Dress and bridal Accessories – Top Tips
By Jason R Dempsey

As soon as you’ve said “yes” to the big question, your mind will start thinking of how you want your wedding day to be and choosing a wedding dress. Of course, you’ve probably been thinking of this since you were a little girl and so the style and location of your wedding day will already be clear in your mind. Once you have agreed this with the groom-to-be, mum, etc, you’ll have a huge amount of things to begin planning.

Planning a wedding is no small undertaking but usually you will have great support from family and friends; but the one decision that it likely to be yours alone will be choosing a wedding dress. Choosing a dress design can be quite difficult and the different materials and colours available multiply the choices plus all of the complementary bridal accessories, so getting a second opinion from family and friends is a great idea..

The time of year for your wedding will be one of the deciding factors when choosing a wedding dress; a summer wedding will mean needing a lighter fabric (you do not want to be passing out because of the heat) and, likewise, colder times of the year might mean choosing a wedding dress in a heavier fabric to keep you warmer.

Naturally, if you are getting married in Britain then planning for a change in weather conditions is never a bad idea; August in the UK does not always mean lovely sunshine and heat. Of the many bridal accessories to choose from, a wedding cloak is a great idea for any time of the year as even a lovely summers day can turn cold in the evening. If the location of your wedding means walking outside then a wedding cloak will help you stay warm and you’ll still look gorgeous.

Other bridal accessories include a wedding wrap or stole. A wedding wrap or stole is also a perfect idea for keeping your shoulders warm should it turn a bit chilly and is a practical idea that keeps you looking glamorous. Of course, on a good summers day you wont need them but as wedding accessories go they are not too expensive and, therefore, are an excellent idea to have on standby just in case. Other wedding accessories to think about might be wedding and bridal umbrellas or parasols.

If you are getting married on the beach then choosing a wedding dress that is shorter will be necessary but other locations will open up other choices for you. A traditional church or historic building can be the perfect setting for a traditional, formal wedding gown whereas a civil ceremony might determine choosing a wedding dress that is more modest. It’s your big day so choosing a wedding dress that you love is your final decision but input from others will always help.

When choosing a wedding dress the right fabric is a most important decision for planning your perfect wedding. Your style of wedding gown and bridal accessories will help set the theme for your wedding. Remember that you will be wearing the dress for hours; that you may have to go up and down stairs; you will be sat down for a long period and you will end the day dancing in it!

The colour of your wedding dress is another element that contributes to the style and theme of your wedding day. White is the traditional colour that has been popular since the 1700′s and denotes purity but more recent times have seen many stronger colours become fashionable. Many online wedding dress stores will have a colour chart that guide you to how the colour and fabric can change the look of a wedding dress; so try them for ideas. Once you have made the decision on the colour of your wedding dress, think of a complementary colour for the chief bridesmaid and flower girls. Do make sure too that they are all comfortable with your choice!

Very important wedding accessories include your shoes. You are going to be on your feet for a long part of the day so being comfortable is really important. Finally, bridal accessories complete the look with perhaps a veil, tiara, gloves and your wedding day lingerie.

So there is much to think about when choosing a wedding dress and wedding accessories with your budget being a strong determining factor. You do not necessarily need to spend a fortune on a wedding dress or bridal accessories. Spending a large amount of money does not guarantee the perfect dress and neither does buying cheap wedding dress mean poor quality. There are many online stores supplying wedding dresses and bridal accessories. These online wedding dress stores may just save you lots of money when choosing a wedding dress.

Have fun choosing, keep the surprise from your husband-to-be and enjoy your wedding day!

To summarise, our top ten tips for choosing a wedding dress are:

1. Think about the time of year and choose the fabric accordingly

2. Think about wedding accessories. Have a wedding and bridal cloak, bridal stole or wrap, bridal umbrellas or wedding parasols on standby for a change in the weather

3. Consider the location venue of your wedding, a beach means a shorter dress whereas a church or historic setting can influence for a traditional gown and train

4. Choose the right fabric for the time of year

5. See how different colours suit your skin colour and get samples of fabrics in different colours

6. Get support and advice from friends as to what style suits you best

7. Make sure the chief bridesmaid and bridesmaids are comfortable with your selection for the dresses

8. You don’t have to spend a fortune on a wedding dress or bridal accessories; shop around various online bridal boutiques – they can be excellent value

9. Try to keep the surprise from your husband-to-be until the big day

10. And have fun!
